What is ISO 20022?

The Global Financial Language

ISO 20022 is a global standard for electronic data interchange between financial institutions. It provides a common platform for payments messaging, enabling richer, more structured data for cross-border and domestic payments. It replaces legacy MT (Message Type) formats with modern MX (Message Exchange) XML-based messages.

The migration affects over 11,000 financial institutions in 200+ countries, processing $150+ trillion annually. It enables enhanced compliance/AML, richer remittance data, faster settlement, and lower costs.

Industry Investment

Financial institutions globally are investing billions in ISO 20022 migration infrastructure, systems upgrades, and staff training (Source: SWIFT, McKinsey & Company, 2023-2024 industry reports).
